Bruce L. Downey is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Barr Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a global specialty pharmaceutical company that operates in more than 30 countries worldwide and is engaged in the development, manufacture and marketing of generic and proprietary pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals and active pharmaceutical ingredients. Mr. Downey joined Barr in 1993 as president and chief operating officer and was named chairman and CEO one year later. For three years prior to joining Barr, he served as the company's legal counsel. Mr. Downey graduated from Miami University and received his law degree from Ohio State.
